Meijer Stores Add Angelic Bakehouse Products

Meijer has expanded its offerings to include Angelic Bakehouse’s sprouted seven-grain bread products. Angelic’s Flatzza® Buddy, sprouted wraps and dinner rolls are available in 161 Meijer stores. In addition, 133 stores carry Angelic’s sprouted grain Flatzza®, and 27 stores carry its hamburger buns, hot dog buns, sprouted 7-grain bread, 7-grain reduced sodium bread and sprouted wheat bread.

Meijer stores are located throughout Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin. The major supercenter retail chain is dedicated to healthy living, fresh food and innovation.

Angelic Bakehouse’s expansion into Meijer stores follows the retailer’s recent introduction of personal sprouted grain pizzas by Champion Foods and Hungry Girl, which launched in Meijer stores on April 1.

Boasting fewer calories, more fiber and more protein than white or whole wheat alternatives, sprouted grains have become one of the fastest-growing food product categories in the United States. In fact, industry analysts predict U.S. sales in the sprouted grains category will increase eight times its current value in the next five years. Angelic Bakehouse is one of the leading players in the segment, propelled by innovative product extensions that have taken its offerings well beyond traditional sliced bread.

“We are thrilled to add Meijer stores to our distribution network,” says Angelic Bakehouse CEO/Owner Jenny Marino. “Our sprouted grain products are turning the baking industry on its ear. They are all about premium ingredients, nutrition, taste and innovation – values that Meijer has always embraced.”
